I’ll remember that moment
For the rest of my life,
The one where you whispered
“Will you be my wife?”
You were tender and nervous,
A little unsure.
With a hope in your eyes
I never noticed before.
You took my hand
And held it so tight
As you waited for the answer
That would make things right.
I was awestruck and marveled
At what you had done
And the promise you offered
To make our lives one.
You may have thought I waited,
To cause you to have to guess.
But I choked back tears of joy,
To answer with a “YES!”
