Weddings are a joyous occasion but can quickly get expensive in
a hurry. With DIY wedding crafts you can insert a personal touch and hold the price down as well. Here are a few ideas for wedding crafts to add sparkle and creativity to your big day. It is not hard to create your own wedding veil but so much cheaper. To make this wedding craft, you will need a length of bridal illusion veil material in the desired length. You will also need a comb to attach it to your hair and a hat or headpiece to cover the comb. Sew large running stitches about an inch from the end of the veil and gather it tightly. Now sew the veil to the comb. Top with hat or headpiece. As an alternative, you can decorate a wide-brimmed straw hat with silk flowers, ribbon, and pearls. ~~~~~~~ The bouquets and floral arrangements can also be personally crafted. For a simple outdoor wedding, consider wild flowers. They are free and have a charm all their own. Bouquets can be arranged in large clear vases, with a bow tied elegantly around. You can purchase bouquets from big box stores for considerable cheaper than a florist shop. Buy 2 or 3 bunches, put elastics around top, middle and bottom of bunches and tie a ribbon around and add pearls, lace or a small framed picture of someone not able to attend your wedding ~~~~~~~ Favors for the guests are particularly appropriate wedding crafts. Get your bridal party together for a "Favor Building Party". Choose something that you all can tackle with little easy and expense. Refrigerator magnet are a simple and well-received favor. A really nice idea is to make a magnetic picture frame and include a picture of the couple. You could cut a frame out of craft foam in one of the wedding colors, arrange over the photo, and glue all onto a cardboard backing. Place self-adhesive magnet tape on the back of the cardboard. Decorate the front of the frame with foil heart stickers and a monogram of the couple's last name. ~~~~~~~ Bows for the ends of the pews or rows make simple wedding crafts. Wide velvet ribbons are nice for fall and winter weddings, while satin is more appropriate for spring and summer weddings. Loop some flat lace in with the ribbons. In the center of the completed bow, attach some silk flowers and pearl sprays with a hot glue gun. ~~~~~~~ Preparing for a wedding can be expensive, but with wedding crafts, you can take some of the sting out. Plan early, because it will take a little while to make favors for everyone and all the other little details you will want to take care of. Maybe creating wedding crafts will even relieve some of those wedding jitters. In any event, crafting your own wedding items is a way to have a personal, beautiful, and less expensive wedding. And when in doubt go to Itsy...it's full of DIY projects. Whether you're the DIY kind or you plan to hire an event lighting company, consider ditching the floral arrangements for

I know this isn’t exactly unique or new, but as a minister, I feel that this is one of the best things you can do to personalize your ceremony for your family and friends. You may cry and need tissues and bodily fluids may or may not come out of your nose. However, guests love hearing these and seeing the passion-filled emotions fly. Emotions are what makes a wedding ceremony memorable. Photographers eat it up, too. It lets your guests learn something about you as a couple and allows you both to reach into your past and to share memories you may have forgotten. It will inspire everyone to join in on the emotions and set the tone for the wedding you always dreamed from a very young age. Have A Good Friend O Family Member Recite A Poem Or A Song During Your Ceremony Whether you’re having a religious ceremony (or even if you are), there is no greater honor for family or friends than to be involved in your wedding ceremony. This is a great way to involve family and friends and have an important reading during the ceremony. Ring Warming This is a very intimate and personal act. It’s when the rings are passed around and nice thoughts are delivered to the couple through their guests. This is usually done when the guests list is less than 30 people. Because of time, if your list is greater than 30 you can chose to only pass the rings to the wedding party and family. Groom Having A Grand Entrance Into The Ceremony Some religious ceremonies already include this, such as with Jewish ceremonies. Here the groom is escorted in with both of his parents. This is a great idea because to many times the groom is put on the back burner at times and they deserve recognition as well. Having the Groom walk down the isle with his Mom is a very nice entrance and gives the Groom & his Mom center stage for a moment. Bring Your Dog This is huge for today's couples who have maybe one or two puppy kids. You can include them by being a small part of our wedding. Many clients feel their dogs are like there family and what to include their pups on their special day. If you’re worried about them getting loose and wreaking havoc, there are companies out there such as Fairytail Planning that will actually do this for you and take them home and keep them safe until you return. Just Make It Your Own Whatever you decide, just make your wedding in some way personal and unique to the both of you. Remember that you are not required to partake in any traditions that mean nothing to you. After all there are no do overs and this is YOUR wedding! Try to be brave and creative and think of options that will be more meaningful to you and your guests. Brainstorm things you love as a couple, your hobbies, dreams, what gets you excited, and for sure the ideas will flow once you start thinking together. Rose
There's a reason why this is a romantic event staple, and a very popular wedding flower. Available in a virtual rainbow of colors, the rose pairs well with any other flower and can help create luscious, full wedding centerpieces. It also is a bit sturdier than some blooms and does very well in boutonnieres, corsages, and arrangements. Hydrangea Rather large flower, the stems can quickly fill up any wedding bouquet or centerpiece. A Hydrangea can make tall and expensive centerpieces seem even more magical, or add a sweet touch to glass jars on a rustic table. Orchid Usually the go-to flower for nuptials in tropical settings, the orchid is more than just a destination wedding staple. These delicate flowers are available in several varieties, and in shades of green, white, and purple. Mostly used in weddings using a traditional or modern themes. Peony Symbolizing happiness, there may be no more relevant flower for a wedding than the peony. Full of soft, fluffy petals, peonies have become the new wedding flower staple. Although they can be a bit expensive their size helps to fill out a bouquet or centerpiece. For those of you who love fragrant flowers, peonies smell delicious. But if you are a little scent-sensitive, you may want to find another bloom to use for most of your decor and bouquets. Anemone Perhaps no flower makes more of a statement than the anemone. These flowers feature a dark center and softly colored petals. The most popular for weddings are white and blush anemones. Their unique shape almost seems like something out of an illustration, giving them a whimsical, but striking, quality. Carnation Carnations are very affordable and come in a staggering amount of colors. Because of their sturdy nature, these flowers are often used to create floral decor elements like flower balls or back drops. In fact, if you love a monochromatic look, but can't afford a centerpiece entirely composed of roses, stretching your budget by substituting in a few carnations is a smart option. Daisy The daisy is available in many varieties and even more colors for the traditional wedding flower. Nothing quite beats the charm of daisies, especially for rustic and vintage affairs. Daisies have been an extremely popular choice for bridal bouquets for centuries. Whether you prefer the technicolor rainbow of Gerbera and Shasta daisies, or the classic white the yellow, daisies are low-maintenance and lovely. Ranunculus Sometimes confused with roses and peonies, ranunculus is a gorgeous, romantic flower perfect for wedding arrangements. They are not as common as carnations or roses, so make sure you check into whether they will be readily available at your local florist (they are typically "in season" only from late spring to mid-summer). Ranunculus paired with other flowers because they are such a sweetly-shaped bloom they are also stunning solo. Baby's Breath Used to be thought as little more than the "filler" in delivered flowers, baby’s breath is now very popular on its own. Because of the popularity of Barn Weddings over the past years its now considered one of the biggest floral trends we've seen is the emergence of baby's breath as a bouquet and wedding flower standard. And it's easy to see why. First, it's a really pretty, very tiny flower. Bridesmaids will love carrying this lightweight bouquet down the aisle. Second, baby's breath is very budget-friendly. So, large wedding centerpieces filled to the brim with this flower will be both affordable and chic. Succulents Succulents are just divine. Once relegated only to Southwest weddings, this desert plant now makes appearances in fashionable centerpieces of just about every wedding theme, from homespun to posh. Succulents add amazing texture and are extremely durable. Because they don't need too much sun or water, you can find succulents available year-round. And as a bonus, they not only make a great addition to cut arrangements, but are also beautiful left potted (either in centerpieces or small favors). Lemonade Stand
For a rustic and refreshing touch to your ceremony, set up a simple lemonade stand where guests can help themselves before you exchange your vows. This is great for any outdoor ceremony location where your guests might be uncomfortable warm in the hot sun. Including fans on the seats will add a very "Southern Flair" to the whole ceremony. Wine Crate Bar Set Up Wine crates or wooden crates have an inherently rustic vibe and are so useful. Try setting up a few in different configurations and heights around your bar to display glassware, bottles and menus. Ladder Photo Display We love the idea of displaying personal photos at a reception; it's a great conversation starter and gives those guests you may not know as well a glimpse into your life! Using two ladders and a couple of wooden boards is an easy, rustic way of showing off those childhood photos for both Bride and Groom along with their families. Log Cake Stand
Instead of a glam metallic cake stand, try a sanded tree log for your rustic wedding. The round shape is a natural fit — in more ways than one! Handwritten Menu Salvage a piece of wood and grab your bestie with the on point penmanship for a perfectly imperfect menu board for your reception. |
